This icon, not this specific image due to the lack of a camera, resembles farmland and history of my hometown. On the road that leads to my house stands a large sign very similar to the image I have provided. It stands a couple feet before a large acre farm with many horses roaming freely as if there were no men or women to tend to them. This sign is important to the safety of drivers on the road and to everyone in the town because of the underdeveloped history it represents. Reminding all of what was and was is now, and that the past should be preserved and not overrun as new generations inhabit the same land.

This symbol of a fire pit in the forest(chinmney in this particular image, again not the exact picture due to the lack of camera) represents symbol of beauty in nature and in unexpected places. Off a couple turn filled roads and a couple miles into the woods near the closest overpass lies the simple stone reminents of what was a firepit chimney. My town as I have mentioned is a pretty rural area that is steadly becoming more ‘grown up’ to say the least and there are not many remaining items, such as this fire pit, that can bring back reality and how simple things used to and can be.

This icon is located in my town, yes the same town with horse crossing signs, and it is representative of change. Change from the farm reputation my nook of north jersey represents, to a new ‘modern’ town with shopping centers and high-class restaurants. Specifically this sign is an icon for the new construction going on in the center of town, changing from what this town used to be to a new and supposedly improved and updated town. But who is to decide if we needed improvements, or wanted change?
